Milligram
A milligram is a unit of mass in the metric system equal to one thousandth of a gram (0.001 g). It is commonly used in medicine and science to measure very small quantities of substances, including drug dosages, vitamins, and chemical compounds.
History
The milligram was introduced as part of the metric system in France in the late 18th century. It derives from the gram, which was originally defined as the mass of one cubic centimeter of water at 4°C. Today, it is defined in relation to the kilogram, the SI base unit of mass.
