US Pint
A US pint is a unit of volume equal to 16 US fluid ounces, half a US quart, or approximately 473 milliliters. It is commonly used for measuring beer, ice cream, and berries in the United States.
History
The pint derives from the Old French word 'pinte' and ultimately from the Latin 'pincta,' meaning painted (referring to marks on containers). The US pint (473 mL) is smaller than the imperial pint (568 mL) used in the UK.
