Imperial Pint
An imperial pint is a unit of volume equal to 1/8 of an imperial gallon or approximately 568 milliliters. It is the standard serving size for draught beer in the United Kingdom.
History
The imperial pint was established by the Weights and Measures Act of 1824. At 568 mL, it is larger than the US pint (473 mL). British law requires that draught beer and cider be sold in imperial pints, making the 'pint' a culturally significant measure in UK pub culture.
