Cubic Meter
A cubic meter is the SI unit of volume equal to the volume of a cube with edges one meter long. It equals 1,000 liters and is used for measuring large volumes such as water consumption, natural gas, concrete, and room volumes.
History
The cubic meter is derived directly from the meter, the SI base unit of length. It became the standard SI unit of volume when the metric system was formalized. One cubic meter of water has a mass of approximately one metric ton (1,000 kg).
