Rankine
Rankine is an absolute temperature scale using Fahrenheit-sized degrees but starting at absolute zero. 0°R equals absolute zero (-459.67°F). It is primarily used in certain engineering fields in the United States, particularly in thermodynamics.
History
The Rankine scale was proposed by Scottish engineer William John Macquorn Rankine in 1859. It serves the same purpose as the Kelvin scale but uses Fahrenheit increments. The freezing point of water is 491.67°R and the boiling point is 671.67°R.
