Pascal
The pascal is the SI unit of pressure defined as one newton per square meter. It is used in science, engineering, and meteorology. Since one pascal is a very small pressure, kilopascals (kPa) and megapascals (MPa) are more commonly used in practice.
History
The pascal is named after French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal, who made important contributions to the study of fluid mechanics and pressure in the 17th century. It was adopted as the SI unit of pressure in 1971.
