Millibar
A millibar is a unit of pressure equal to one thousandth of a bar or 100 pascals. It is equivalent to one hectopascal (hPa) and is widely used in meteorology for measuring atmospheric pressure.
History
The millibar was the standard unit for atmospheric pressure in meteorology for most of the 20th century. Standard atmospheric pressure is 1013.25 mbar. Many weather services have switched to hectopascals (hPa), which are numerically identical to millibars.
