Watt
The watt is the SI unit of power, defined as one joule per second. It measures the rate of energy transfer or conversion. Watts are used universally for measuring electrical power, light output, and heat generation.
History
The watt is named after Scottish engineer James Watt, who made significant improvements to the steam engine. It was adopted as the SI unit of power in 1882 by the Second Congress of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
