Kilocalories per Hour
Kilocalories per hour is a unit of power equal to 1,000 calories per hour. The kilocalorie (often called 'Calorie' with capital C in nutrition) represents the energy needed to raise one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius.
History
The kilocalorie is commonly used in nutrition to measure the energy content of food. When food labels refer to 'Calories,' they actually mean kilocalories. The average adult burns approximately 60-80 kcal/h at rest (basal metabolic rate).
